

Eltroxin (T4) is an oral drug manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline and containing the active substance Levothyroxine Sodium. This is a synthetic form of thyroid hormone, a hormone that normally is secreted by the follicular cells of the thyroid gland. Levothyroxine is used to treat thyroid hormone deficiency, and occasionally to prevent the recurrence of thyroid cancer. Among athletes and body builders Eltroxin is famous as a weight loss drug due to its ability to accelerate the metabolizing of fat, protein and carbs. Eltroxin comes in boxes, each unit containing 100 pills (50 mcg/pill).
Eltroxin is a form thyroid hormone and it has many usages among athletes. Thyroid hormones are essential for the correct development of all the cells in the human body. They also regulate protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, a fact that leads to an increase in protein synthesis and general energy levels. Eltroxin is of huge help for bodybuilders that look to shed weight or in the cutting cycle when they want to harden the gained muscle mass whilst shading the last of the fat. For many Eltroxin became an irreplaceable part of the pre contest diet.
Eltroxin is eliminated slowly from the body with a half-life of approximately 7 days. This drug should be taken on an empty stomach, about an hour before the meal, in dosages of around 125 mcg per day and increased slowly to 200-400 mcg a day over the following period. This is one of the larger doses, however dosages vary according the age groups and the individual condition of the patient, body weight and compliance to the diet and medication. It is also important to know that T4 should not be taken for more than 5 weeks at a time as well. After doing a cycle of this drug, it is important to wait at least 8 weeks before doing it again to allow normal thyroid functioning to return. Eltroxin is often used along with growing Hormones during pre contest diets.
The main side effects that may occur while using Eltroxin are allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Synthetic Levothyroxine may also have adverse side effects like: palpitations, nervousness, headache, difficulty sleeping and insomnia, swelling of the legs and ankles, weight loss and/or increased appetite. People that had a heart attack, a thyroid disorder called thyrotoxicosis, or an adrenal gland problem that is not controlled by treatment should not regularly use Eltroxin.
