Anastrozol 1 mg is and oral drug manufactured by Balkan Pharmaceuticals and containing the active substance Anastrozole which is in a class of medications called nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of estrogen that body makes. This can slow or stop the growth of many types of breast cancer cells that need estrogen to grow. Athletes and body builders use Anastrozole as a part of their steroid cycle to reduce and prevent symptoms of excess estrogens like gynecomastia and water retention. Anastrozol binds reversibly to the aromatase enzyme through competitive inhibition, it inhibits the conversion of androgens to estrogens in peripheral tissues. The main side effects that can occur while using Anastrozol are: tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, throat, or tongue; unusual hoarseness, burning, numbness, tingling sensation, calf or leg pain, swelling, chest pain; confusion; fainting; fever, chills, frequent or painful urination, peeling skin, persistent bone pain, nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain. Anastrozole may cause or worsen osteoporosis. It can decrease the density of bones and increase the chance of broken bones and fractures.
